Jackson Adams, Commodore

Class of 2027

Hey there! I’m Jackson — a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering from Walla Walla, Washington. Northwestern Sailing has been the center of my college experience, and I’ve loved getting the chance to travel to regattas around the country and learn from so many great teammates along the way, and a highlight of my time on the team was winning GLIOR 2024! I’ve served as Alumni Chair, Vice Commodore, and the team’s first Keelboat Coordinator. Fun fact: I spent this past fall quarter studying abroad and sailing with the University of Edinburgh’s keelboat team in the North Sea! I’m thrilled to be serving as Commodore this year and can’t wait to support our community, get more sailors on the water, and make this another incredible year for NUST!

Rowan Spates, Vice Commodore

Class of 2029

Hello! My name is Rowan and I'm a pre-med freshman majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Spanish from Upstate New York. I grew up sailing in Southern California and still coach there every summer. Sailing has always been an important part of my life and I want that to be true for as many others as possible. So far, what I’ve most enjoyed on this team has been Cedarfest 2025, one of my first regattas! I look forward to working with our Executive Board and Northwestern to improve our team and create incredible travel plans for any members wishing to broaden their racing experience. My goal is to efficiently coordinate travel for regattas in a way that supports our Executive Board's plans. I'm beyond excited for future regattas and memories with my favorite people!

My favorite memory from my time on the team is Kingfisher 2023. My fun fact is I’ve driven a boat from New Jersey up through the New York harbor and around the Statue of Liberty! I’m so excited to get to give back to this team as captain and help make this our best year yet!
